Mark as a Private in Outlook from Mac
If you are using the new version of Outlook for Mac, read the below steps to find out to mark the event as private in Outlook Online.
Schedule a Private Meeting
- Create a new Appointment on the calendar.
- Click the private padlock button (Mark it as private for the latest version ).
- If we want to change the settings of the old event, then we can right-click and select Private.
- Another option is double click it up and hit the private padlock button.
Create a Private Calendar
- Click on My Calendars, below that calendar options can be seen with three dots click on that then simultaneously click Sharing permissions.
- Under the Permissions option, set the required permissions level.
There are some options we can choose from the list. Below are the options that they really meant.
Not shared – No one can view our calendar.
Can view it when I’m busy – Enables the viewing of time blocks as Free, Busy, Tentative, or Away.
Can view titles and locations – Allowing someone to view our subject and location. If it sets to private only displayed as a private appointment.
Can view all details – Allows people to view all the details.
Can edit – This option provides read/ write/ modify access. Once you have selected the permission level, click Done to apply for the updated permissions.
Set Specific Permission for Other Persons
- On the toolbar of Mac, click on Tools and then Accounts.
- Click the Advanced option on this page.
- Click on Delegates and plus in the new window.
- Search for the required person and click Add.
- Select your settings and click Ok.
Verify your meeting-related messages are in the desired format, then click OK.
Change the Visibility in Outlook from Browser
Setting up the changes in Microsoft Outlook 365 from the browser is few step process. Let’s get started by checking the below steps.
Schedule a Private Meeting
- Click on New event to create a new appointment in the calendar.
- Click the Busy icon on the top and also click Private.
- Your appointment will be locked within the calendar.
Create a Private Calendar
- Click on Settings and also click View all Outlook settings.
- Click on the calendar and simultaneously shared calendar. Choose the calendar you want to share.
Once selected, a new window will appears. Under Permissions, set the desired permissions level. See the below image to know more.

Marking events privately in Windows users is easy as you think. But we have to do the steps carefully. Let’s get started.
Schedule a Confidential Meeting
- Create a new Appointment on your calendar.
- Click the Private icon within the tags group in Outlook Online.
- Once we click on Private, the button will change its color becoming grey. Through this, we will make sure that the appointment will be private.
Your Calendar Should be Private
- In Calendar, on the Home Tab of Outlook, in the Manage Calendar group, click Share Calendar.
- Click on the calendar and click on My organization to give the default permissions.
- Under Permissions, set the desired permissions level. Permissions levels.
