In Outlook we can subscribe to an online calendar to get updates automatically or import events from a .ics file to our current calendar (aka ICS subscription or iCal subscription). Calendars that use the .ics file format, such as those from Apple iCal, Google Calendar, and Mozilla Lightning, can be imported from websites or calendar applications.
On my path to experimenting with importing calendars from Google Calendar to Outlook, I’ve had a few hiccups. However, after learning the methods myself I want to share my experience with you so that you don’t face the same issues.

How to Import Google Calendar to Outlook for Microsoft 365 on Mac
Thus, see for yourself how we can import Google calendar to Outlook for Mac.
Google Calendar:
- Initially, go to Google Chrome and log in to the Google account to access Google Calendar linked with our Google account.
- Now, open Google Calendar on Google Chrome.
- We enter the home page of the Google calendar.
- Further, choose one calendar on the left side of the screen, under My calendars.
- On the right side of the calendar name, 3 vertical dots are present. Click on that.
- A drop-down menu appears with few options. In that, select Settings and sharing.
- An entirely new window crops up with all the settings on Google calendar.
- At this point, scroll down on the navigation pane on the left side, and tap on Integrate calendar.
- Moving forward, on the right side of the page an option Secret address in iCal format will be available.
- Next, tap on the Copy icon to copy the address.
- The address in the iCal format gets copied to the desktop clipboard.
Outlook for Mac:
- Launch the Outlook application in Mac.
- On the top ribbon of Outlook, click on File.
- A new window appears. From the settings, select Open & Export.
- Then tap on Import/Export on Outlook Online for Mac.
- Select Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar file (.vcs) from the Import and Export dialogue, then click Next.
- Navigate to the .ics file that we saved earlier from Google calendar and select it in the Browse window before choosing OK.
- Moving forward, hit the Open as New option. The details get automatically merged into our Outlook calendar for Mac.
The Outlook Calendar displays the newly added calendar in a side-by-side format. Additionally, it is now listed under Other Calendars in the Navigation Pane in the calendar view.
How to Import Google Calendar to Outlook for Windows
Here, we’ll talk about how to import a Google calendar to Outlook Online for Windows desktop applications.
First, we’ll need to configure Google calendar and then go on to implement the steps in Outlook Online for Windows.
Google Calendar:
- Launch Google Chrome and log in to our Google account through which we can access Google Calendar.
- Open Google Calendar on Google Chrome.
- We enter the home page of the Google calendar.
- Further, on the left side of the screen, under My calendars, choose one calendar.
- On the right side of the calendar name, 3 vertical dots are present. Click on that.
- A drop-down menu appears. Select Settings and sharing.
- At this point, an entirely new window crops up with all the settings on Google calendar.
- Scroll down on the navigation pane on the left side, and tap on Integrate calendar.
- Moving forward, on the right side of the page an option Secret address in iCal format will be available.
- Next, tap on the Copy icon to copy the address.
- The address in the iCal format gets copied to the desktop clipboard.
Outlook Windows application:
- Meanwhile, open the Outlook app on Windows.
- Now, click on the calendar icon on the left navigation pane of Outlook Online.
- The calendar page crops up.
- On the top right corner of the same page, click on the 3 horizontal dots.
- A list appears in front of us. Again, click on Add.
- Another, list drops down. Select From Internet option.
- A pop up window will emerge. Here, it asks us to Enter the location of the internet calendar you want to add to Outlook.
- Further, in this box, we’ll paste the iCal format address of Google Calendar that we had copied earlier. And press the OK button.
- A confirmation page appears with the Add this Internet Calendar to Outlook and subscribe to updates? dialogue. Tap on Yes to confirm.
- Lastly, the integrated calendars can be seen on the Outlook calendar layout. Outlook calendar is blue colored while Google calendar is green colored.
Consequently, the calendar events of Google Calendar and Outlook are visible simultaneously and give us a break from searching for them separately.

How to Import Google Calendar to Outlook via Web Browser
Let’s have a look at how we can attach a Google calendar in Outlook Online using web browsers.
Google Calendar:
- Open Google Account on Google Chrome to access Google Calendar.
- Then open Google Calendar.
- Entering the home page of the Google calendar we can already see our events.
- On the left side of the screen, under My calendars, choose one calendar.
- Further, on the right side of the calendar name, 3 vertical dots are present. Click on that.
- A drop-down menu appears. Select Settings and sharing.
- At this point, an entirely new window crops up with all the settings on Google calendar.
- Tap on the Import & Export button on the left pane. the settings for the same reflect on the right side.
- Now, click on Export. The calendar will get downloaded into your system in the zip format which we need to extract.
- The extracted file will be in the iCalendar format.
Outlook Online Using Web Browser:
- Log in to your Outlook account in Outlook.com through any web browser.
- Click on the calendar icon on the left navigation pane of Outlook Online web.
- The Outlook calendar page will crop up.
- Furthermore, now tap on the Add calendar button on the left of the screen.
- A new window will pop up. Here, choose the Upload from file option.
- Moving forward, click on Browse and choose the file from the local device storage.
- Then select the Calendar option from the drop-down and tap on Import.
Finally, the Google calendar will be added to the Outlook Online account on the web.
How to Import Google Calendar to Outlook for iPhone
Moving on, let’s see how we can import Google calendar into Outlook app for iPhone.
- Firstly, launch the Outlook app on our iPhones.
- Further, tap on the calendar icon below on the Outlook app home page.
- Then click on the Outlook icon on the top left corner of the screen.
- A navigation pane will slide in.
- Moving forward, we can see a plus + icon in the top left corner. Tap that.
- A window will pop up below on the screen of the Outlook Online app.
- Choose the Add an Account option.
- Additionally, a page appears where we have to add our account.
- Add the email then click on Add Account.
- Then fill in the password and tap on Next.
- Moreover, tick the checkbox of the account whose calendar we want to add to the Outlook calendar.
- Finally, Google calendar is added to Outlook.
Therefore, we can simply follow the steps above and add the Google calendar to our Outlook app on our iPhone.

How to Import Google Calendar to Outlook for Microsoft 365 on Android
Dive in to know the steps to import Google calendar in Outlook for Android.
- Consequently, open the Outlook app on Android.
- Further, tap on the calendar icon below on the Outlook app home page.
- Then click on the Outlook icon on the top left corner of the screen.
- A navigation pane will slide in. Now, on the top left corner, we can see a plus + icon. Click on that.
- A window will pop up below on the screen of the Outlook Online app.
- Choose the Calendars on device option.
- Another page appears with all the accounts that are being used by us on our Android device.
- Moreover, tick the checkbox of the account whose calendar we want to add to the Outlook calendar.
- Finally, press the ADD CALENDARS button on the lower right side of the Outlook Online app for Android.
The calendar gets added to Outlook and we can also find it on the navigation pane of Outlook calendar.
Note: By default, Google calendar has to be installed in Our Android devices. Nevertheless, we also have to sign in our Google accounts in order for the accounts to be visible in Outlook while adding the Google calendar.
