Creating a New Admin Account

You need to create a new admin account and then use it to remove the old one. Follow the steps provided below to see how it is done.

  • Restart your Mac. 
  • Once you see the boot screen hold down the Command key and press S.  
  • A black-and-white dialogue box should pop up on the screen. You need to type “ /sbin/mount -uw / “ without quotations and hit the return key. 
  • Once you can see “Root” show up on the screen, type “ rm var/db/.applesetupdone “ and press return once again. 
  • When you see “Root” again, type in “ reboot “ and press the return key to restart your system. 

After finishing up with all of this, you will be prompted to select the main language and the country you reside in to set up your Mac.

You can also import data from another device if you want to on the next screen; if you do not have any data to import, click on Not now. Furthermore, you’ll be asked to turn on the location of your Mac. 

Once that is done, you will be taken to a screen where you can enter your Apple ID and password. You can use an existing Apple ID or create a new one if you wish to.

You can skip this entire step and return to it later. Next, you’ll be met with a license agreement on which you’ll have to click Agree.
